Manic Monday - Obssesive Girl

I am not a crazy girlfriend/fiance. I don't like controlling TF's life and telling him what he can't do. But there are a few things that legitimately bother me.

1. The "Guys Only" Event. This bothers me when the event is something I love to do and don't get the chance to do myself and I'm not included just because I don't have a male anatomy. Case in point, TF is a Mets fan and I am a Phillies fan ( and yes, I am a legit fan). Well usually TF refuses to attend any games in Philly, even if the Mets are playing. Today he told ne he's going to a Phillies game with the guys (no Mets). Seriously? Not only would I be the one to enjoy myself at an event like thus, he has never done anyhthing like that for me.

2. The "I'm getting drinks with a girl friend". Who just so happens to be an old hook up. No further comment.

I don't want to be bitchy and annoying by I will give him a hard time for the things that should bother me. I rarely win anyway...

Wicked Wednesday... In the Naughty Spot

I have come to believe that every place of employment has a naughty spot (thank you Supernanny). An lucky for me, I believe I have been moved to the naughty spot!

Just two days ago I was sitting peacefully in my corner. In my corner, I managed to get all my work done all while being able to listen to music, snack and occassionally check facebook and words with friends. Life was good, the job was good.

Fast forward to today, I have been permanently moved to the front desk! Now lets be honest, I am the farthest thing from a social butterfly in a work setting. I tend to have an intense concentration that gives me bitch face. Now a person like that is not the kind you want at the front desk especially when her job entails writing, the producer of the most intense bitch face.

In a place where I can't concentrate, listen to music and just be myself, the front desk is my very own naughty spot. Oh yea, there's a camera on me too!

Weddings, weddings everywhere but not a drop to drink.

Ok,ok so the latter part is a lie, I just love turning things into movie references!

But TF and I are currently caught in a whirlwind of weddings! With a little less than a year until our big day, we have or had about 10 weddings to attend. Good thing I love weddings.

Ok, ok caught in another lie. There are only two types of weddings I really enjoy
1. A wedding for someone very important to me.
2. A wedding with lots of dancing!!
An open bar doesn't hurt either.

Like a moth to a flame...

By some strange powers that be I keep getting these illegitimate jobs. Jobs where all of my work is done in half the time I'm scheduled to work. Jobs where my bosses take off once a week. Jobs where I just sit at my desk and read half the time (or blog obviously).

But I'm starting to get curious, are all corporate America jobs like this and no one had the heart to tell me or am I just unlucky enough to actually want to be busy at work and get these bs jobs??

I guess I should stop complaining. Here I was asking for more time to do the things I want, maybe I should be thankful that is what I'm getting!

Mormons

You did it. You brainwashed me.

I’m ofcourse talking about The Book of Mormon, The new musical from the creators of South Park.
At the 65th annual Tony Awards this past Sunday, the musical took home NINE awards, including best musical, and after seeing them perform I Believe, I was hooked.

Cannot stop listening!

Broadway, Broadway, Broadway

Well, the Tony Awards were last night and I didn’t take it very well.

This time last year I was living it. I was attending press events, opening nights, rooting for the people I knew to win. Not a day has gone by where I haven’t missed it.

I know this means I won’t be satisfied until I’m back there again! Pursue, pursue, pursue…

I Can't Get No...

Satisfaction.

I don’t know why I’ve never been happy to just accept what I have. I never stuck with anything for very long. Relationships, sports, hobbies, jobs. I just have a tendancy to get extremely restless.

Currently, there are only three things in my life that have been easy for me to want to make time for: writing (I actually have to force myself not to do this), acting (the only thing I’d give up everything for), and my current relationship (an accomplishment because I never thought I’d have a relationship last longer han a week, let alone commit to one for the rest of my life).

I have also managedi to hang on to a few really great friends. Other than that, nothing in my life is really stable, but I don’t consider that a bad thing!

On Ranting and Raving

I hate complaining but I am so gosh darn good at it. I could probably write a book with all the things I complain about
The truth is I am overwhelmed right now.
-I just started a new job.
-My fiance and I live together.
-I am trying to plan a wedding. (Exactly one year away.)
-We just got a puppy.
-All I want to be doing is writing and acting.
-And this summer is already bookd solid.
So I am trying my hardest to just breathe and get throuh one day at a time.
She’s lucky she’s the cutest thing ever!

Practice!

I love writing!!! To the point where I do it all the time, including at work… Shhh. Additionally, a few days ago I got an iPhone! Eeeeep! My first smartphone. Yes, I was basically a cave person before.

What I’m trying to get to is that I’d like to start utilizing my phone to blog more. Hence this “practice” post!! Enjoy!!

The hyenas around the water cooler.

I have numerous pet peeves. The way people chew their gum. When someone bites down on the fork instead of just the food. Nail biting. When the toilet paper is under instead of over. But in my recent journey into the real work. The working world, I have discovered a new pet peeve.

I hate work laughs. The thing I hate most about work laughs, is that I am guilty as charged.

I have racked my brain trying to figure out what compels us to cackle and howl in the most uncomfortable way at things that aren't even funny just because we are dressed in suits and dresses gathered around the office watering hole.

Scenario one:
Tom: "Hey Bob, it sure is nice out today."
Bob: (Hyena cackle) "Your got that right Tom."

Scenario two:
Nancy: "Oh shoot, I can't find my contact."
Betty: (Hyena cackle). "Oh my, that is the funniest thing I have heard all day."

No, these scenarios are not exaggerated. This is exactly when the work laugh is used.

I would love to take a stand against the work laugh. Protest. Have a sit in. Just stop faking the humor. But I know the work laugh is uncontrollable. It is a serious epidemic.

It reminds me of the episode of friends with Chandler's work laugh.

Not the exact episode. But still hysterical and still FAKE!
